The Importance of Choosing the Right Immigration Representation

Immigration lawyers are licensed attorneys who specialize in immigration law and are authorized to represent clients in immigration matters before the government. Conversely, notarios are individuals who may offer legal services in some countries but are not permitted to represent clients before U.S. immigration authorities. They lack the necessary qualifications and expertise to provide effective legal assistance.

Incorrectly filing immigration documents can often exacerbate an already delicate situation. Recently, I was contacted by someone whose mother had paid a notario to file an asylum claim. The notario charged about double what a lawyer might have charged, and unfortunately, filed the claim late, resulting in its automatic denial.

It is vital to get it right the first time by choosing qualified and authorized immigration lawyers.
